En la provincia de Málaga se ha pasado de 8.400 intervenciones quirúrgicas en 2018 a unas 9.000 en este año 2019, un incremento de 545 operaciones. La actividad ordinaria crece un 5,29 por ciento, mientras que la extraordinaria, es decir, con los quirófanos abiertos durante las tardes, lo hace en un 87,2 por ciento. Las intervenciones incrementadas en la provincia de Málaga engloban también las realizadas en continuidad asistencial, concierto, y a pacientes fuera de plazo con demoras superiores a 365 días. Estas últimas suponen un incremento del 38,30 por ciento. Respecto a la continuidad asistencial, en la provincia de Málaga se han realizado 92 intervenciones más, lo cual supone un incremento del 76 por ciento. La cifra desciende en las intervenciones realizadas mediante concierto, ya que ha habido 19 menos que el año anterior.
